Hyundai Card One Company One School Financial Education

Helping Students Begin a Smart Financial Life at School, One Company One School Financial Education

On a sweltering day in July, the classroom of Class 2-1 at Dangsan Middle School in Yeongdeung-po, Seoul, buzzed with excitement — so much so that the heat was forgotten in the thrill of competition. Their opponent? Class 2-2. It was an inter-class showdown with no room for concession. This was a battle of financial knowledge, fought for the honor of the class — and with a bonus prize: hamburger gift coupons for every student in the winning class. The expressions of the students seated before their laptops were more serious than ever. This was the “League of Finance” grade-level tournament, held as part of Hyundai Card’s “One Company, One School Financial Education” program.

The League of Finance is a program Hyundai Card developed over the course of a year. Set in a metaverse environment where students can explore Hyundai Card’s key spaces, the program uses quizzes to teach everything from basic economic and financial knowledge to voice phishing prevention. Designed like a game, it has been praised for helping students immerse themselves and easily grasp financial concepts that might otherwise feel rigid or difficult.
Financial Education Aimed at Young Students
The Financial Supervisory Service operates the One Company, One School Financial Education program to help future generations develop sound financial knowledge and healthy spending habits in today’s complex financial environment. Sharing this vision, Hyundai Card introduced a new model for youth financial education through its metaverse-based experiential program, the League of Finance.

The gamification method used, in which students complete missions in a virtual space and naturally acquire financial knowledge, has been recognized for completely transforming the traditional, rigid education paradigm. As a result, in February, Hyundai Card received the Financial Supervisory Service Governor’s Award in the financial institution category at the “One Company, One School Financial Education Best Practices Awards” hosted by the Financial Supervisory Service. This marked the company’s third honor, following previous wins in 2020 and 2023.

One-line reviews from student participants

Hyundai Card’s unique approach—using games and virtual spaces familiar to young people in financial education—has once again been recognized through this award. Going forward, we will continue to develop programs that help consumers of all generations and life stages embrace and understand finance more easily.

A Program that Bridges Regional Gaps in Financial Literacy
사진
Hyundai Card’s One Company, One School Financial Education program has reached approximately 21,000 students through about 740 sessions since its launch ten years ago in 2015. Each year, the program has introduced new and engaging methods—such as the “Running Man” activity board game, escape room–style mystery games, and even musicals—to make financial literacy fun and easy to understand. More recently, it has expanded its reach by partnering with schools in regions such as Jeollanam and Chungcheongbuk Provinces, earning praise for helping to bridge regional gaps in financial capability. Widely recognized for laying the groundwork for young people to become prudent financial consumers, Hyundai Card plans to continue developing immersive programs tailored to diverse age groups and backgrounds.
